Jennifer Tretter Ferreira, RD is recognized as a professional in the field of nutrition in both the United States and Portugal.
She is a member of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration in the United States. In Portugal – Europe, she has an active membership in the Ordem dos Nutricionistas and a professional license as a Dietitian.
In 2005, she received her bachelor’s degree in the Science of Dietetics through the University of North Dakota. In 2011, she obtained the equivalent Portuguese degree in “Nutrition and Dietetics”, by the School of Health Technology of Lisbon.
Her professional experience began in 2006, in a nursing home, organizing and providing meals nutritionally adapted to the conditions of each person.
In 2007, she began working at a Health and Wellness Center in Las Vegas, where a majority of her work was in providing nutritional consultations and organizing health programs. Programs she helped develop and teach included a 12 week weight loss program, a diabetes program, healthy heart, and sports nutrition programs such as marathon training.
In August of 2010 she moved to Portugal, where she began studying the language, culture and especially the cuisine of the Portuguese people. Many of her nutritional recommendations have been inspired by traditional Portuguese recipes and the practices here of locally grown and homemade food, usually consisting of a lot of fresh produce and a mediterranean diet.
